Controlling CAC
When capital was abundant and Founders were playing the “revenue arb game” (i.e. more revenue = more enterprise value) then marketing wasn’t well-measured or controlled.
What today’s best CEOs realize is that the last X% of their marketing spend was wasted and generated negative enterprise value. Cutting off the tails and making very real tradeoffs between marketing efficiency and growth are what they’re doing to control CAC.
